    11/17/2004

When the Soviet leader Nikita Kruschev uttered these words decades ago, they were considered an idle threat -- typical Cold War rhetoric. Now, as Sustainable Development spreads globally and imposes locally its soft-sounding but hard-hitting restrictions on the lives of all, it has become obvious that his prediction is on the mark.

Michael Shaw will expose the emergence of an American Soviet, with an enlightening explanation of the political dynamics that make this unthinkable event possible.

Researchers trying to get to the bottom of Sustainable Development policies are convinced that its two land-use elements -- so-called "Smart Growth" and the Wildlands Project -- are bound to one another. As the country's populace is pushed from rural land by plans to rid the landscape of human "interference", they must go into the urban areas, where they are subject to comprehensive efforts to regulate, mold and socially engineer communities."

Out of the frying pan; into the fire," some might say.

Hear our guest, Dr. Michael Coffman, discuss Smart Growth, the Wildlands Project, and Sustainable Development in general.

  • Serving the Disenchanted and Disenfranchised: Tim Findley on F21SC Radio Tooltip

Nobody knows better than America's farmers and ranchers how important natural resources are. Without proper stewardship of the land, their livelihood wouldn't exist; nor would most Americans have the cornucopia of meat and vegetables we've grown used to.

Yet, as America's rural citizens face pressure from government bureaucrats to stop grazing their animals or severely restrict their water usage -- or to simply go away -- most urban dwellers remain oblivious due to an almost universal black-out of news coverage.

That's where Tim Findley comes into the picture.

Findley knows journalism and isn't afraid to use it. He is a 25-year veteran of the media industry who wrote for the San Francisco Chronicle -- he broke the stories on Patty Hearst while working there. Rolling Stone, UPI, KPIX-TV and KGO-TV also grace his resume. Now he's covering issues dear to America's rural people as a mainstay writer for Range Magazine.

Findley, in addition to his many articles outlining predicaments of ranchers and farmers, has helped to unveil some of the more intriguing political and economic trends that face us today. His fall 2003 report, "This Land is OUR Land; Untamed nature and the removal of humans", exposed the Wildlands Project for what it is: an attempt to rid nature of all human presence.
